Famine
Signs found in Nature
Matthew 24:7 NIV (New International Version)

Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
One of the primary reasons for famine is drought  In many developing countries where famine is widespread, conservation farming is not practiced, so when the rains do come, the nutrient rich top soil is washed away, leaving only lifeless sand.  This process is called desertification.
Famine is one of the few signs that can be attributed to BOTH acts of nature AND acts of mankind.  The reasons for famine described on this page will be those attributed to acts of nature.  To learn about acts of mankind that contribute to famine, please click here.
Natural Disasters
A famine is a situation when a certain country or area doesn't have enough available food and related resources to feed its population. As a result many affected by the famine are undernourished and die of starvation or thirst.
