There is a children's hymn that says: "I have the peace that passeth understanding down in my heart. Where? Down in my heart. Down in my heart. I have the peace that passeth understanding down in my heart. Down in my heart to stay."
When I was little I had a hard time with those lyrics! There were too many p's, I didn't know what "passeth understanding" meant and I always misunderstood the last two words as "Tuesday" instead of "to stay". Now that I'm an adult, hearing that children's song always makes me smile! Not only do I understand what all of the lyrics mean, I know the peace in which the song speaks! That peace is down in my heart. There are days when little aggrevations and set backs distract me and I temporarily forget, but the peace is still there deep inside. This peace has given me
hope during times when life felt hopeless. Jesus promises this peace to all who believe in Him.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
(James 3:17, 18)
